To delve into the sound profile of the BEAM 2, I decided to test its driving capabilities with my PK1 in-ear headphones. The BEAM 2 offers a commendable soundstage with accurate instrument tonality and impressive lower-end response (particularly noteworthy when driving the PK1 in single-ended mode). It maintains vocal purity without excessive coloring, allowing for clear articulation and perceptible nuances in vocal delivery. The instrument separation is well-defined, contributing to a wide soundstage. Despite a substantial amount of detail, the BEAM 2 effectively renders additional information, showcasing a balanced frequency response and excelling in the high and mid-range frequencies. The high frequencies exhibit good extension, while the mid-range is characterized by smooth linearity conducive to an enjoyable listening experience. The low frequencies display quick rebound speed and a controlled approach, providing a satisfying balance in quantity.
