The G Five is the flagship model of the G series by Genelec. It is the largest model in terms of size, offering powerful performance and allowing users to experience high-level audio in larger spaces. The G Five is equipped with optimized powerful amplifiers that provide uncompromising accuracy, combined with impressive performance and an elegant streamlined design. It is a two-way active speaker designed for wide frequency range, low coloration, and high sound pressure level reproduction.
The speaker features active crossover designed to precisely transition between the high and low-frequency units, ensuring smoothest possible response with minimal distortion and maximum stability. Each speaker undergoes meticulous calibration and is driven by independently optimized amplifiers for precise matching and uncompromised sound quality.
The MDE minimum diffraction cabinet design of the G Five minimizes sound wave diffraction, resulting in pure and uncolored sound reproduction and improved imaging accuracy and overall resolution.
The unique spiraling inverted reflex port design by Genelec enhances low-frequency performance by optimizing air flow and reducing turbulence noise, providing clear, powerful, and textured bass.
The DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) design, with its smooth curved shape around the high-frequency driver, ensures precise control of sound wave directivity, resulting in a wider sound stage and minimized room-induced coloration. Additionally, the speaker's room acoustic response compensation technology, developed through extensive research and practical experimentation, allows it to adapt to various real-world environments and maintain optimal performance at all times.
The G Five is equipped with multiple protection circuits, providing overload protection, amplifier overheating protection, and circuit short-circuit protection, ensuring safe and stable operation and an extended product lifespan. When no sound signal is detected for a certain period of time, the speaker automatically switches to intelligent standby power-saving mode. It resumes operation when a sound signal is detected again. The power consumption in standby mode is less than 0.5W.
The Iso-Pod isolation stand prevents unwanted vibration transmission and reduces sound coloration. It also allows for flexible adjustment of the tilt angle of the speaker to match the optimal listening position.
The Level +10dB switch allows users to adjust the input sensitivity of the G Five by +10dB, giving them the option to achieve the best volume level and match different signal sources according to their preferences.
The G Five features tone controls that allow users to adjust the frequency response of the speaker to suit specific acoustic environments. Available settings include "Desktop Control," "High Frequency," "Low Frequency," and "Subwoofer":
"Desktop Control" minimizes the adverse effects caused by sound reflections when the speaker is placed on a desk or similar surface, which typically enhances certain frequency ranges of the mid and low frequencies, reducing clarity. By setting the "Desktop Control" option to "ON," the speaker effectively reduces the negative impact caused by reflecting surfaces between the speaker and the listener, effectively minimizing sound coloration.
The "High Frequency" adjustment allows for correction of the speaker's high-frequency response. The G Five offers two attenuation settings: -2 dB and -4 dB for users who find the high frequencies too bright. There is also a +2 dB gain setting that compensates for the high frequencies when listening from a greater distance or when the speaker is obstructed by objects such as acoustically transparent screens.
The "Low Frequency" adjustment allows for correction of the speaker's low-frequency response below 1kHz. It is necessary to activate this adjustment when the speaker is placed near a wall or in situations where excessive low frequencies are present. The attenuation levels available are -2 dB, -4 dB, and -6 dB. When both "Low Frequency" switches are set to "ON," a -6 dB attenuation is achieved. All tone control options are factory-set to "OFF." In free-field conditions, where the speaker is placed away from walls and other acoustic reflective surfaces, the G Five delivers a flat frequency response.
The "Subwoofer" adjustment allows for attenuation of the lowest frequency range reproduced by the speaker. The G Five offers three attenuation settings: -2 dB, -4 dB, and -6 dB. This adjustment can be applied when the speaker is placed in a corner or when there is excessive low-frequency content.
Each speaker comes with built-in amplifiers and includes a signal cable, a power cable, and an operation manual. After unpacking, place the speakers in the desired location, facing the central listening area. If possible, arrange the listening position along the room's axial axis, keeping each speaker at an equal distance from the side walls.
