G One is an impressively powerful speaker that will leave you in awe with its sound. Despite being the smallest speaker in the G series, its aluminum cabinet made from environmentally friendly recycled materials, combined with rear configuration vent design, delivers larger volume and astonishing low-frequency extension. Compressed to its minimum size, the Genelec G One is a two-way active speaker designed for reproducing sound with wide frequency range, low distortion, and high sound pressure level.
The speaker features an active crossover and optimized independent amplifiers, meticulously designed to achieve smoothest transition and minimal distortion between the high and low-frequency drivers, ensuring unmatched audio quality. Each speaker is carefully calibrated, with the high and low-frequency drivers driven by optimized independent amplifiers for precise matching and uncompromised sound reproduction.
With its Modern Directivity Control (MDC) Minimum Diffraction Enclosure (MDE), the elegantly curved cabinet minimizes sonic diffraction, creating clean and uncolored sound for precise imaging and improved overall resolution.
The G One also boasts Genelec's unique Laminar Spiral Enclosure (LSE) reflex port design, optimizing airflow vibrations, enhancing sub-bass capabilities, reducing turbulence noise, and offering clear, impactful low-frequency reproduction.
With the DCW (Directivity Control Waveguide) design, the smooth curvature surrounding the tweeter achieves precise control over the sound wave direction, resulting in a broader soundstage and reduced room-induced coloration. Additionally, the speaker incorporates Genelec's Room Response Compensation, a technology developed through extensive research and practical application of room acoustics, ensuring optimal performance in a variety of environments.
The G One is equipped with multiple protection circuits, providing overload protection, amplifier overheating protection, and circuit short-circuit protection, ensuring the speaker's safety, stability, and a long lifespan. When no audio signal is detected for a certain period, the speaker automatically switches to the power-saving standby mode. It resumes operation instantly upon receiving an audio signal again. The power consumption in standby mode is below 0.5W.
To prevent unnecessary vibration transmission and reduce sound coloration, the G One features an Iso-Pod isolation stand. It also allows flexible adjustment of the speaker's tilt angle, adapting to the optimal listening position.
The -10 dB level switch enables the user to match the G One's input sensitivity with the preamplification device, achieving the best volume settings.
The speaker's tone can be further adjusted through the tone control switch on the rear panel. The options include "Desktop Control" and "Bass":
"Desktop Control" compensates for the enhanced mid and low-frequency response due to sound reflection when the speaker is placed on a desktop or similar surface, ensuring minimal adverse effects from reflective surfaces and reducing sound coloration.
"Bass" adjustment enables correction of the speaker's low-frequency response below 2kHz. It is necessary when the speaker is placed near a wall or in other situations where excessive bass may occur. The attenuation options are -2 dB, -4 dB, and -6 dB. When both "Bass" switches are set to "ON," the attenuation is -6 dB. The factory default settings for all tone adjustments are "OFF," providing a neutral frequency response in free sound fields, away from any walls or other acoustic reflective surfaces.
The speaker comes packaged with a built-in amplifier, signal cable, power cord, and an operation manual. Once unpacked, place the speaker in the desired position, facing the central listening area. If possible, arrange the listening position along the room's central axis, maintaining equal distance from each speaker to the side walls.
